Fed FOMC & BoE Rate Announcements - My take

Two rate decisions in two days, and this time it's the Fed expected to move. With US inflation at 3.4%, core at 2.4% and unemployment steady at 4.1%, futures price a 92% chance of a hike to 3.75–4.00% on Wednesday, the first since 2023, and a second by December. The Bank of England follows on Thursday: inflation at 2.9%, Bank Rate held at 3.75% by 6–3 in July with three members wanting 4%, and every economist in the latest Reuters poll expecting a hold.
