Why California Gold Is Buried So Deep #goldrush #geology

Understanding gold deposits requires looking at the deep geological history of regions like California and Australia.

Geological events that occurred millions of years ago shaped the landscape we prospect today. This video examines how deposits formed deep underground during the time of dinosaurs or shortly after, providing context for where and why we find metal in the present day. By analyzing the relationship between tectonic shifts and the formation of these systems, we gain a clearer picture of how wealth is distributed in the earth.

We also look at the mechanics of the Andreas Fault and how it influences the creation of gold placer deposits. Connecting these large-scale movements to local site conditions helps prospectors move beyond random searching. For those looking to deepen their knowledge, my book Fists Full Of Gold covers these fundamental skills in greater detail.
