It's the beginning of September and it is now time to start feeding the bees to get ready for winter. In this episode, I will be collapsing the hive back to a single brood body and feeding my bees
Honeybees need around 80lbs of food to get through the winter successfully. Overwintering bees can be a tricky thing and the more effort you put into them before the winter kicks in the better the chance they have to survive winter.
Feeding bee in winter can be challenging so by feeding in the fall you are avoiding issues later on. In this video, I am going to take you through my winter preparations for your honey bee colonies so that the winter cluster doesn't starve in the coldest months.
Now is the time that winter bees are being laid so treating is also an important part of this cycle. The work we do now in setting up the hives and constricting them to a single brood box can make all the difference.
